Alpa, the first-prize Calabrian chestnut-based products

Alpa is a thriving reality located at the foot of the Sila Piccola, in Calabria, specialized in the processing and transformation of one of the most typical fruits of the territory, namely His Majesty the chestnut.
Since 1960, Alpa has specialized in the production and processing of fresh chestnuts and derivatives such as flour, jams and preserves. Alpa's products are a real treat, the result of the quality of the ingredients and tradition, and we are not the only ones who say it. In fact, Alpa has also managed to conquer The WineHunter thanks to some products that have allowed it to obtain the WineHunter Award. Ready to find out a little more about this company and the products that allowed it to win this coveted award? Then keep reading!

Alpa, the Italian artisanal tradition

Alpa was founded in 1996, the year in which paragraph #39 was consolidated; a marketing activity started by the Gualtieri family in 1960. Over the years, the company has grown a lot and has progressively expanded its range of products, which today can boast numerous jams, creams and preserves of the highest quality. #39 However, the philosophy has remained the same as always: to enhance the raw material by producing excellent products that reflect the Italian tradition, but that at the same time add a touch of novelty. The production, equal to about 5000 quintals per &' year, is handcrafted at the plant in Rogliano (CS), structured in three separate departments that operate according to regulations designed to maximize the naturalness of the product and food safety. The craftsmanship preserves the quality and properties of the selected raw materials, 100% Italian. In fact, only the best Italian seasonal fruits are those used to make excellent, genuine and natural products, preserving the quality of strictly fresh fruit, without the use of preservatives and dyes.

Alpa, the natural principles that guide

the company

Alpa products are genuine and have always respected the same principles, few but of value. For over 60 years, Alpa has remained faithful to its original approach, working only fresh seasonal fruit, without the use of processed or semi-finished products, carrying out the process in an artisanal way and using only cane sugar, but limiting the doses so as not to sacrifice the taste and aroma of the raw material. To reinforce this approach, a great source of pride for the company that has thus managed to achieve great results, organic production has also been increased, now equal to about 70% of production. But what is the raw material we are talking about? Well, the Alpa products are really many and all delicious, but the company has achieved excellence, both in Italy and in Europe, especially thanks to chestnuts. Once called “the bread of the poor”, today they are considered a delicious and precious food, a gourmet ingredient in many sweet and savory dishes. Let's find out together how Alpa decided to enhance

this ingredient.

We don't want to keep you waiting any longer, so we'll immediately reveal which Alpa WineHunter Award products are.

The first product is enclosed in a small jar that, once opened, will overwhelm you with the aroma that will be released. We are talking about roasted chestnuts with chocolate cream, a delicious variant of the classic chocolate cream. The products used are first-choice medium-sized Italian whole chestnuts prepared with a slow cooking process that preserves their organoleptic properties and which are then immersed in an intense dark chocolate cream, categorically without palm oil. Roasted chestnuts with chocolate are perfect both to be enjoyed as a dessert and to season savory meat-based dishes, such as beef. Absolutely delicious.

Another award-winning product are roasted chestnuts in rum syrup, a very tasty variant of the famous product of the Italian autumn tradition. If, on the other hand, you want to stock up on whole roasted chestnuts then you must try natural roasted chestnuts, a product that follows the tradition of Made in Italy and that allows you to always have the classic soft and already peeled roasted chestnut at hand, preserved in water and sugar.
