The Barbaresco Ronchi DOCG 2020 from the Azienda Agricola Ronchi is a red wine produced with the best Nebbiolo grape varieties. It represents the highest expression of Piedmontese winemaking.
Grape Variety: 100% Nebbiolo
Vineyards: Municipality of Barbaresco, in the geographic mention "Ronchi" and a small vineyard near the farmhouse
Soil: marl and limestone soil, with clayey infiltrations, moderately compact
Cultivation: almost entirely manual for the planted rows respecting the contour lines. The pruning method is traditional Guyot with modification to arch, leaving 8-10 buds on the fruiting shoot. The autumn soil work is carried out in alternate rows, sowing legumes and other cover crops. No chemical fertilization and weeding are practiced. Treatments against pests are based on integrated pest management and the method of sexual confusion using pheromones against the grape moth.
Harvest: the grapes are hand-picked generally between late September and early October.
Winemaking: starts with destemming and gentle crushing of the grape clusters. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures around 28-30° C in steel containers. Maceration with the skins lasts for 12-15 days.
Aging: aging takes place partly in barriques and partly in large wood for about 22-24 months followed by bottling in May-June of the third year after the harvest. An adequate bottle aging follows.
Alcohol Content: 14.5% vol
The Barbaresco Ronchi DOCG 2020 from the Azienda Agricola Ronchi is a red wine ideal for roasted red meats, game such as lamb, deer, and wild boar baked in the oven.
Additionally, it pairs divinely with long-aged cheeses like Parmigiano Reggiano and Castelmagno.
As time goes by, it can become a great wine to sip on its own even without any gastronomic accompaniment.
Color: intense and lively garnet with subtle orange reflections.
Aroma: intense, persistent, and elegant, with fruity notes of raspberry, cherry, and strawberry, as well as plum jam. Following are ethereal sensations and the first more evolved aromas like tobacco and hay, cinnamon, pepper, and vanilla; balsamic notes such as menthol are also present.
Taste: full, dry, broad, and full-bodied, with a well-integrated tannin structure, warm and persistent.
Serving temperature: 18°C
